A Therapeutic Preschool Preparatory Program

PlayWorks Prep is an interdisciplinary therapeutic program for children with developmental differences with an emphasis on social-emotional development, child-led play, and sensorimotor exploration. This play-based program helps support each child’s regulation so that they are able to build meaningful relationships with both peers and adults. These relationships support the foundation for necessary developmental skills. Our program serves children ages 2.5 to 6 years old with developmental differences that may include:

Speech and language differences
Cognitive differences
Social-emotional differences
Sensory processing challenges
Gross motor differences
Fine motor differences

The PlayWorks Prep Model: Our Approach and Curriculum

We believe social-emotional development and regulation are fundamental in building the relationships necessary for children to be able to engage in active learning. PlayWorks Prep uses a global developmental approach that provides individualized methods through a unique understanding of each child’s unique developmental qualities. The curriculum is rooted in our extensive knowledge of the natural progression of child development and tailored to provide scaffolding to support each child’s unique learning style and foster meaningful interactions with their family, peers, and environment.

The PlayWorks Prep team is composed of credentialed developmental therapists, licensed occupational therapists, licensed physical therapists, licensed speech-language pathologists, and licensed social workers. Our play-based programs utilizes a strengths-based approach focused on meeting each child where they are at and utilizing their strengths to support their overall development.

PlayWorks Prep focuses on regulation, cognitive/play skills, expressive and receptive communication skills, gross and fine motor development, social-emotional development, and adaptive/self-help skills. We work to prepare children for a classroom setting by working on increasing comfort with group routines and transitions, engaging in classroom activities, and participating in intrinsically motivating group play.

Days: Monday through Friday
Time: 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Ages: 2½ to 6 years old

Optional Add-Ons

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is an opportunity for PlayWorks Prep students to eat lunch in a social setting. This group has a daily fee.

Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Time: 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Ages: 2½ to 6 years old

Families can choose to have their child attend one, two, three, or four days a week.

Food Explorers!

Food Explorers is one-to-one feeding therapy that takes place in a group setting. This service is billable to insurance. There is a monthly food fee that is not billable to insurance.

Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Time: 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Ages: 2½ to 6 years old

Families can choose to have their child attend two or more days.
